Reading

I keep this page as a short working shelf. It is less a record of everything read than a place for titles and ideas that still have some use.

Instead of maintaining a large backlog, I keep three open slots:

1. one book that answers a current question;
2. one book chosen simply for interest;
3. one collection of essays or short pieces that can be read slowly.

Each title earns its place with a one-sentence reason. If the reason disappears, the title can leave without becoming unfinished work.

The useful unit is rarely a finished-book count. It is an idea that can be explained without reopening the page where it was found.
